On Tuesday, December 3rd, California Senator Kamala Harris made the decision to end her 2020 presidential run.
“To you my supporters, it is with deep regret — but also with deep gratitude — that I am suspending my campaign today.”
Senator Harris cited lack of financial resources as the main reason for dropping out of the race.
In a statement shared on Instagram, she explains: “I’m not a billionaire. I can’t fund my own campaign. And as the campaign has gone on, it’s become harder and harder to raise the money we need to compete.”
Black women are the backbone of the Democratic Party– and Kamala was the only black woman in the race. We admire the work she has done by championing issues such as prison reform, income inequality, DACA and marijuana legalization.
President Trump was happy to see her go. But in true Harris style, she had a comeback ready for him.
This is not the last we will see of Senator Kamala Harris. And we are eagerly looking forward to what’s next.
